Cue the drumroll and fanfare, please! We are so thrilled to announce that Sleep Therapeutics was awarded Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Culture by Waterstone Human Capital. Recognizing the top organizations and CEOs that Canada has to offer, Canada’s Most Admired awards are a big deal, and we’re both humbled and honoured to be considered a Canadian benchmark in corporate culture.

Given how much we value and appreciate our both our customers and our employees, we thought you may like a glimpse inside the three things we think make our culture stand out:

1. We’re a people-first organization

As businesses grow from a mom-and-pop shop to a national brand, it’s easy to lose sight of the people that made that growth possible. We believe an organization is nothing without its people, whether that’s our employees or our clients and customers. We value the contribution of every person within—and outside—our organization.

2. We’re values-driven

We all know a business’ bottom line is to make money—but we believe a business should do good with the money it makes. We promote a culture that supports community involvement and social and environmental advocacy at both the individual and organizational levels. Some of our favourite initiatives include:

Running for a cause

From the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon to fun runs (80s themed, anyone?), we participate in charitable runs as a team. Not only does running promote health and wellbeing like sleep, we’re running for a cause and giving back to the community.

Recycling CPAP supplies

We believe the health of the planet is just as important as the health of its people. After taking a closer look at our internal waste procedures, we decided we could do better; this led to the development of an industry-first national recycling program that takes used CPAP masks and hoses and turns them into green energy.

Investing in individuals

Each of our team members leads a colourful life, unique to their interests and experiences. Whatever their causes, we’re here to support them, whether it’s participating in events alongside them or donating to the charities the events benefit.

Supporting local initiatives

We’ve sponsored jerseys for kids’ lacrosse teams, delivered Christmas hampers with food and essentials to families in need, and participated in various tournaments supporting causes such as Sturgeon Victim Services

3. We practice what we preach

We built Sleep Therapeutics on the belief that better sleep leads to better living—and we live this philosophy ourselves. It’s not a marketing gimmick or claim. Not only does good sleep lead to better performance within our organization, it also inspires our clients and customers because we walk the talk and can actually speak to what’s made a difference in our own lives.

We can’t thank you enough for your role in our corporate culture—without your stories, we wouldn’t show up day in and day out to help make a difference in the lives of Canadians across the country. Thank you—and thank you Waterstone Human Capital for the honour. Visit Waterstone’s website to learn more about this prestigious award.
